SQL (Structured Query Language) is a database language used to structure, store and query data in relational databases. It is mainly used to query and manipulate data from relational database management systems (RDBMS).

SQL is often used in combination with other technologies such as PHP, Java or C# to create dynamic websites and applications based on databases. Some examples of applications that use SQL include customer management systems, e-commerce platforms, and financial management tools.

There are many different RDBMSs that support SQL, including MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL. There are also many tools and applications that support SQL, including database development platforms such as MySQL Workbench and SQL Server Management Studio.
